Ezekiel Baker
With carbine bore, 9 ¼ inch round sighted barrels retaining much of their original browning, the top of each breech inscribed ‘E. BAKER, LONDON’ platinum touch holes, lock plate inscribed ‘E. BAKER’, sliding safety catches, engraved tangs and trigger guards with pineapple finials, blued ramrod pipes with engraving, vacant silver escutcheons, silver butt caps with hall marks, including the maker’s mark MB, chequered and well figured walnut full stocks, retained ramrods, mahogany case with brass carrying handle and accessories including ball mould, powder flask, patch cutter, brass-mounted cleaning rod, lead projectiles.
Note: These pistols are very similar to the improved flintlock pistol by Ezekiel Baker which was awarded the Silver Medal of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce, 1810. (see engraving p.44 Gunmakers of London 1350-1850 Howard L. Blackmore)
