With browned damascus 29in. barrels, the sunken top-rib signed ‘GEORGE & JOHN DEANE, (MAKERS TO H.R.H. PRINCE ALBERT) No. 30 KING WILLIAM STREET LONDON BRIDGE’, bead fore-sight, border engraved colour-hardened breech blocks with platinum vents, colour hardened border and scroll engraved bar-action locks signed ‘GEORGE & JOHN DEANE’ featuring central engravings of hunting dogs, fully scroll engraved top-tang, figured walnut chequered straight-hand half-stock with a gold shield-shaped escutcheon to the wrist, blued iron butt plate with scroll engraved spur also featuring a hunting dog, blued engraved trigger-guard tang and finial, a further hunting dog engraved on the bow, complete with its original ramrod, the whole retaining much original finish and colour throughout , together with its original mahogany case, with rounded brass corners, ring handle to lid and folding brass handle to one end, the interior compartmented and lined in checkerboard embossed faux leather with further embossed borderlines and floral corners to the compartment lids, the lid interior with a raised embossed rococo scrolled crest surmounted by a Prince’s crown and incorporating the Royal crests the centre with a ‘DEANE & SON’ trade label above a crossed sword and sceptre, the shaped lidded interior compartments retaining an original powder flask, shot flask, nipple-key and oil-bottle.
