A Fine Cased Pair of 38 bore Percussion Duelling Pistols
Converted from flintlock by the maker after 1820, with 10 inch rebrowned sighted octagonal barrels by Charles Lancaster lightly rifled with five wide grooves, maker’s poincoin set into the breech, tangs with foliate engraving and incorporating the rear sights, precision engineered detented locks, finely engraved lock plates signed “JOSEPH MANTON LONDON”, dolphin hammers engraved en suite, safety bolts, walnut half stocks with chequered butts and horn fore end caps, engraved steel butt caps, trigger guards engraved with stands of arms and foliate borders on the bow and pineapple finials, vacant wrist escutcheons, original horn tipped ramrods each with brass capped ball removal screw, in their original green baize lined mahogany case with fine accessories including a red leather covered three way flask, cleaning rod, mallet, ball mould, nipple wrench and spring clamp.
