A Rare Cased Pair of 42 bore Duelling Pistols

Each pistol with 10 inch browned octagonal rifled sighted barrel, patent recessed breech with maker’s gold stamp and a single gold line, engraved tang incorporating the rear sight, flat border engraved detented lock signed “JOSEPH MANTON LONDON” , with cock engraved en suite, semi rainproof pan, safety catch and roller frizzen, figured half stock with finely chequered butt and horn fore end cap, iron mounts retaining traces of the original blue including engraved butt cap, trigger guard with pineapple finial, horn tipped ramrods each with worm; in their original mahogany case lined with green baize complete with accessories including red leather covered two way flask, a fine loading mallet, cleaning rod and ball mould, the interior of the lid with maker’s trade label, the exterior with circular brass recessed carrying handle.
