With 30 inch browned sighted barrels, the elevated concave rib signed in gothic script “R.E. Sambrook, London”, three platinum lines at the breech and stamped on the underside with the barrel maker’s initials T.E. (Thomas Evans), finely engraved tang, the locks engraved ensuite with acanthus leaves and signed ‘Sambrook’, well figured walnut half stock chequered at the wrist with vacant escutcheon, finely engraved iron furniture with much original blued finish, brass mounted ramrod with capped charge extraction screw, London proof marks.

Notes: The maker appears to be unrecorded but Thomas Evans was a barrel maker of some repute who also made barrels for Joseph Manton and his business was eventually taken over by James Purdey.
