With 12 inch octagonal to round two stage slightly swamped barrel stamped with London proof marks and the maker’s mark at the breech, plain square ended tang, convex curved (banana shaped) lock signed “TURVEY” with unbridled frizzen, walnut full stock slightly swollen at the ramrod throat, bulbous pommel with long eared brass butt cap engraved with a flower head, brass side plate in the form of a shaped and engraved leaf, brass trigger guard engraved on the bow, ornate vacant brass wrist escutcheon, turned brass ramrod thimbles and brass tipped ramrod with charge extraction worm.

Note: Edward Turvey was free of the Gunmakers Company in 1690, elected Master in 1713 and died in 1714.
