With 33½ inch browned octagonal barrel rifled with two grooves, dovetail blade front sight and notched rear sight 6½” from the breech, inscribed on the top flat Henry Tatham No. 37 Charing Cross London the breech with a single gold band and gold poincion marked TATHAM LONDON, platinum touch hole, engraved tang, bevel edged borderline engraved lock decorated with trophies and flags and signed TATHAM, swan necked cock, semi-rain proof pan and roller frizzen, figured half stock chequered at the wrist with vacant escutcheon, silver mounts including butt plate with engraved tang depicting a dog below rising game birds, scrolled trigger guard finely engraved with another game scene on the bow and a pineapple finial, Birmingham hallmarks and the silver maker’s mark of John Freeth, silver tipped ramrod with capped screw.
