With 30 inch browned sighted barrels, recessed breeches with single gold line and maker’s gold stamps, platinum lined touch holes, tang engraved with a game bird and Britannia shield, locks with border and game scene engraving, French cocks, rollers on the feather springs and rainproof pans, figured walnut half stock with cheek piece finely chequered at the wrist, engraved iron mounts including butt plate, trigger guard depicting a dog, trigger plate and ramrod entry pipe with pineapple finials, brass mounted ramrod with capped worm; in its original mahogany case relined in green velvet with John Manton & Son trade label on the inside of the lid and a circular inset brass carrying handle on the outside and with period accessories including a Sykes brass mounted copper powder flask, Hawksley leather shot flask, spring cramp cleaning rod and wad punch.
