Each pistol with 10 inch rebrowned octagonal sighted barrel inscribed on the top flat MANTON LONDON reading towards the breech, a single gold line at the breech behind the rear sight, gold lined touch hole, tang engraved with foliage and trophies, bevel edged detented lock signed MANTON with safety slide and roller frizzen, set trigger, iron trigger guard engraved on the bow and with pineapple finial, walnut full stock (some bruising) with plain flat sided butt, horn tipped ram rod with worm; contained in an associated period mahogany case expertly relined in green baize with accessories including a three way red leather covered flask, loading rod, turn screw, ball mould and main spring cramp, the interior of the lid with maker’s trade label for 1801-1815, the exterior with recessed circular carrying handle around a vacant brass escutcheon.
