Converted from flintlock, with 32inch sighted browned twist barrels, the top rib signed ‘JOSEPH MANTON’S NEW IMPROVEMENTS BY HIS MAJESTY’S PATENT’, finely engraved tang including depiction of a leopard’s head, border engraved locks signed ‘JOSEPH MANTON, LONDON’ with engraved trophies, dolphin headed hammers, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, engraved iron furniture with depictions of trophies on the trigger guard bow and butt plate tang, pineapple finials, brass mounted ramrod with capped charge extraction screw; in its mahogany case lined in green baize, with maker’s trade label inside lid and accessories including two flasks, nipple-key, turn-screw, cleaning rods and oil bottle.
