With 7 inch rebrowned sighted barrels signed on the sighting flat: STAUDENMEYER  LONDON with a single platinum line at the breech, finely engraved tang incorporating the rear sight, signed detented locks with bevelled edges, rounded engraved stepped tails, pigeon breasted cocks, roller frizzens and safety slides, figured walnut ‘Catalan’ style chequered butt and finely engraved iron mounts, retained iron ramrod. London proof marks.

Note: Staudenmayer was one of the very talented gunmakers of the finest period of English gunmaking. He was employed by John Manton before establishing his own business in 1799. Some but not all of his output was serial numbered, and the dating of this pistol is in accordance with the detailed research undertaken by the late Shaun Brown – Arms Collecting Vol. 40 No. 3 p.p. 90-93.
