With 30 inch sighted nicely figured Damascus barrels inscribed on the top rib “TRULOCK & HARRISS 9 DAWSON ST. DUBLIN”, very fine scroll engraving to the tang repeated in profusion on the signed lock plates and hammers, highly figured walnut half stock with slim chequered wrist and fore-end, very finely engraved iron mounts including butt plate, trigger guard with long tang, trigger plate with ornate finial echoing the ramrod entry pipe, barrel bolt and escutcheons; in its original leather lined and brass mounted mahogany case with accessories including powder and shot flasks, cleaning rod, tools etc., the interior of the lid with makers’ trade label , the exterior with circular inset brass carrying handle inscribed “ROBERT FENTON 1858” surrounding a circular plaque inscribed with the motto “ PER ARDUA SURGO” (I rise through difficulties) above a crest depicting a tree over a monogram “F”.
